While Grosfillex cannot warrant results of any specific cleaning method or product, below are care and maintenance suggestions to help you keep your commercial-grade Grosfillex furniture looking great and long-lasting.  Be sure to read all instructions and warnings on any cleaning product you choose to use.  If unsure, test a small area before treating the entire product.

Resin Furniture

How can I clean Grosfillex commercial resin furniture?

·  A mild detergent such as dishwashing soap and water will usually be all you need to clean your furniture.

· If something stronger is needed, resin furniture cleaners not only clean - they can also remove some stains.

For persistent stains:

· General non-abrasive household cleaners can help eliminate various stains.

· Water with a 10% solution of either bleach or vinegar can remove persistent stains.

· For stubborn stains from different origins, such as sap, bird droppings, carbon monoxide and imbedded dirt, try using a resin furniture cleaner.

· Solvents are generally not recommended; however, for sticky, glue-like or black stains, careful application of mineral spirits, rubbing alcohol or acetone can be successful.  Immediately rinse thoroughly.

· Every case is different and may require professional attention depending upon the nature of the staining agent.

· Use a solution of water and a household cleaner, such as dishwashing soap, liquid hand soap, or gentle liquid laundry detergent.

· Stubborn stains can be removed with a spray bottle of 40% water and 60% bleach and a nylon scrub brush as needed.  Do not use bleach containing chlorine.  Use chlorine-free bleach.

· Start with a 1:9 bleach and water mix ratio.  If that approach doesn’t address the issue, gradually increase the ratio as necessary for the specific stain.  Do not increase the mix ratio to any more than a 50:50 mix.

· Use a soft bristle brush.  Do not use anything stiffer, as it may remove the suede finish on the fabric.

Tabletops

How can I clean Grosfillex commercial tabletops?

Vanguard Exterior

· Vanguard tabletops can be cleaned with a damp cloth and dishwashing soap.

· Gentle agents such as glass cleaner can be used.  Cleaning agents must not contain abrasive ingredients, as these can lead to scratches and changes in gloss level.

· Caution:  the use of abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, steel wool, sandpaper and the like can damage the finish of the decorative surface of the tabletop.  Acid or alkaline based cleaners will mar, etch, corrode and permanently discolor the melamine surface of the tabletop.

Do not use furniture polishes, cleaners containing wax, and re-greasing plastic cleaners on the tabletops.  These agents tend to build up a sticky, dirt-binding layer on the surfaces.

Cleaning by level of soiling

Depending upon the type of soiling, please observe the cleaning instructions below.  Start with the mildest method and advance to the next level only if necessary:

Light, fresh soiling- use a clean, soft cloth or sponge dampened with water.  Wipe the tabletop dry with a new cloth afterward.

Normal soiling - use clean, warm water and a cleaning agent without abrasive ingredients, such as dishwashing soap, liquid hand soap or gentle liquid laundry detergent.  Use a clean cloth, soft sponge, or soft nylon brush to apply the solution.
Lather the surface with the cleaning solution.  Leave the cleaner on the tabletop long enough to allow time for the solution to take effect as defined by the amount of soiling.  Then, rinse the tabletop with clean water or glass cleaner.  Finally, rinse the top as many times as necessary to ensure that the cleaning agent has been fully removed.  Wipe the surface completely dry with an absorbent cloth.  Change cloths frequently.

Heavy, stubborn soiling and old stains - create a paste made from powdered laundry detergent and water.  Apply the solution and leave it soak overnight.  Rinse thoroughly and then dry with a clean, absorbent cloth.  In the case of a particularly stubborn contamination, a solution of 10% citric acid/90% water can be used.  Leave for 3–5 minutes.  Rinse with clean water or glass cleaner.  Be sure to remove the cleaning agent completely.  Wipe the surface dry with a clean, absorbent cloth, changing cloths frequently.

High Pressure Laminate (HPL)

· HPL can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Caution: use of abrasive cleaners, powders, scouring pads, steel wool, or sandpaper can damage the finish of the decorative surface. Acid or alkaline based cleaners and/or compounds will mar, etch, corrode and permanently discolor the melamine decorative surface of HPL.

Molded Melamine

· Tabletops should be wiped regularly with a damp cloth and alcohol-based cleaner or a solution of water mixed with a household cleaner, such as dishwashing soap, liquid hand soap or gentle liquid laundry detergent.  Do not use any abrasive cleaners or detergents.

· Stubborn stains can be removed with a solution of water and a household cleaner, lightly rubbed with 0000 steel wool.

· IMPORTANT: Do NOT use bleach or a chlorine-based chemical sanitizer to clean molded melamine tabletops.  Bleach will attack the surface overlay of the melamine tabletop and cause severe discoloration and staining.  Household cleaners or a mild detergent with water should be used to clean the tabletop surfaces.

Tabletop Storage (Do's and Don'ts)

DON’T store tabletops on their sides or upside down – this can cause warping, scratches, or structural damage over time.

DO store tabletops flat by placing tables together side by side — this keeps them stable and protected.

DO look for tabletops and bases with folding mechanisms — they make storage easier, save space, and help prevent damage.

Umbrellas

How can I clean canopy fabric for Grosfillex umbrellas?

· To maintain beauty and ensure long life of umbrella canopy fabric, wipe up spills with an absorbent cloth as quickly as possible.

· Clean regularly with a mild soapy solution and lukewarm water, rinsing thoroughly with clean water to remove all soap. Air dry.

· The fabrics do not promote the growth of molds or mildew; however, dirt or standing water may support these organisms.  Chlorine bleach can be used without affecting fabric color or strength and will kill mildew organisms.  Use sparingly and rinse fully.

· Do not use pine oil cleaners.

Windmaster Umbrellas

Clean the canvas once a month.  In most environments, you should only need to perform more thorough cleaning every 2-3 years.

Casual Care and Cleaning of Windmaster Umbrellas

· Brush off dust and dirt with a soft brush. NEVER brush with stiff brushes since this can damage the fabric finish.

· Spray the umbrella with clean water. If a hose is used, avoid high pressure.

· Prepare a solution of solvent-free soap in warm water (no more than 100°F) and apply it to the fabric and stitching.

· Scrub with a soft brush, allowing the solution to penetrate the fabric.

· Rinse with water to remove all traces of soap.

· Let air dry and do not close the umbrella until the canvas is completely dry.  In times of continuous rain, it is advisable to keep the umbrella rolled and stored.

Intensive Care and Cleaning of Windmaster Umbrellas

·  Brush off dust and dirt with a soft brush. NEVER brush with stiff brushes as this can damage the fabric finish.

· Prepare a solution with 10% household bleach, 20% solvent-free neutral detergent (Free & Clear detergents) and 70% water.

·  Apply the solution to the fabric, allowing it to remain between 15 and 20 minutes maximum.

·  Rinse with clean water several times. Any bleach residues remaining on the canvas, combined with the sun, could damage the fabric and stitching.

·  Let air dry and do not close the umbrella until the canvas is completely dry.

Market Umbrellas

To keep your umbrella looking its best, be sure to clean the fabric at the first signs of dirt or stains.  For routine maintenance of your fabrics, we recommend cleaning each spring season and prior to storing them away, if applicable.

Normal Stains and Dirt on Market Umbrellas

1. Remove any loose dirt with a soft bristle brush or hose down with cold water.  Blot (don’t rub) spills and stains with a clean, dry towel.

2. In a spray bottle, mix a mild solution of dishwashing soap and warm water (do not exceed 100°F).  Spray the mixture onto the affected area, allowing it to soak into the fabric.  Gently scrub with a soft bristle brush.

3. Rinse the fabric thoroughly with cold water, removing all dishwashing soap residue.  Using a garden hose may make this step easier.

4. Blot (don’t rub) fabric with a clean, dry towel, soaking up as much moisture as possible.  Let fabric air dry completely.  Do not machine-dry.

Other Helpful Tips:

· Never dry clean fabric.
· Never use a steamer on fabric.
·  If ironing is necessary, carefully iron on synthetic heat setting.  Do not steam.
· If machine washing, allow fabric to air dry.

For light cleaning, avoid the use of detergents.  Detergents can be used on fabric without harm; however, it may remove some of the water and stain resistant properties.  Fabrics can be treated with a wash-in product in the washing machine or a spray-on solution. These sprays can be obtained from dry cleaning supply stores, online stores, or stores that sell marine-related products.

Stubborn Stains and Dirt on Market Umbrellas:

1.  Before bleach cleaning, make sure fabric is dry and has been vacuumed.  Work in a well-ventilated space.
2.  Prepare a 10% bleach solution in water.
3.  Test the solution in an inconspicuous location before applying to the rest of the fabric.
4.  Apply the cleaning solution using a misting spray bottle.
5.  Work the solution into the affected area by lightly scrubbing the area with a sponge or soft bristle brush.  Make sure to work from the outside of the stain inward so as not to spread the stain.  Rinse your sponge or brush frequently.
6.  Allow cleaning solution to sit on the stain no more than 1 hour.
7.  Rinse thoroughly to remove all residual bleach from the fabric.
8.  Allow fabric to air dry.
9.  Repeat process if necessary.
